The following is a short list of questions we have compiled to better serve you.  If you have a question not covered by our list, please feel free to email us, call us, or drop in for a visit. 

Are the rental prices per person or per apartment?  All of our rental rates are per person.  If you wish to share a one bedroom apartment, each of you would pay half the monthly rent.

What does "shared" mean when referring to an apartment?  When a room is shared, it means there are two people in that bedroom and both people are on the same lease.  The number of rooms in an apartment depends on the unit type.

What is included with my rent?  We include the following with our rent:  Internet, Cable, Heat, Water, Sewer, Trash, Fully Furnished apartments and a full size Washer and Dryer in every unit.  We provide a garbage disposal, microwave, and all your major appliances.  We also provide a $15 electricity allowance per occupied bedroom.  You also have 24 hour access to our Business Center, Game Room and Fitness Center.  We also provide 2 FREE tanning beds for our residents.

What is required to approve my lease?  You will be required to pay the application and administration fee if applicable.  You will also need to show proof of renters insurance and have the guarantor forms to us within 14 days of signing your lease.  Once all parties are approved, your lease is complete.

What is a guarantor?  A guarantor is similar to a co-signer.  If you are in school full-time and do not make 3 times the monthly rent, we need a guarantor for your lease who does make 3 times the monthly rent.

Can I sublease my apartment anytime?  Yes, we allow our residents to perform a lease reassignment.  This is better than a sublease because once the new person taking over your lease is approved, you are released of all liability to the apartment.  The lease will be transferred after the resident and guarantor are approved.  The new resident must be of the same gender as the other roommates.

Can I cancel my lease?  You can cancel your lease within 72 hours of signing.  You will forfeit the $50 application fee.  After 72 hours, you will have to find some to perform a lease reassignment.

How far is University Commons from the University of Minnesota?  University Commons is approximately 5 blocks from the East Bank.

Is parking available?  Yes, we offer surface parking and garage parking for an additional fee.  We also offer visitor parking for $5 per day.  Surface and visitor parking spots need permits displayed to avoid being towed.

Is bike storage available?  We have a very large indoor bike garage provided to our residents for free.  Only residents are given a key to the bike storage garage.  We also have numerous outdoor bike racks available to our residents.

What is the security like at University Commons?  University Commons cannot guarantee security, but we do take the following measures:  1) Security officer on duty from 10:00pm to 6:00am everyday, 2) Secured entry doors to each building, 3) All first floor apartments come equipped with an internal security system.

Is maintenance available 24/7?  Our maintenance staff is available for non-emergency issues during regular office hours.  In the event of an emergency, maintenance is available 24 hours a day.

What are your office hours?  Monday - Friday from 9:00AM - 6:00PM and Saturday and Sunday from 10:00AM - 5:00PM.
